About us
Grace Kala Iyadurai is an experienced and dedicated primary
teacher with a strong record of supporting young learners across a variety of
school settings. She has taught in several respected schools in Sri Lanka and
brings an international perspective through earlier professional experience in
New Zealand. Her approach to teaching is grounded in patience, care, and a
commitment to helping children develop confidence, communication skills, and a
lasting enjoyment of learning.
Alongside her classroom work, Grace has developed strong
communication, organisational, and administrative skills through earlier roles
in financial services and business. Her broad career background, leadership
experience, and genuine passion for working with children make her a warm,
reliable, and professional member of any school community.
Teaching Experience
Grace has taught in a number of established schools,
building wide experience in primary education and early years learning. Her
teaching career includes roles at Kingston College International, Beacon Hall
International, Crestwood International College, Guidance College, Amal
International School, Ladies’ College, and Bishop’s College. Throughout these
appointments, she has worked closely with children at important stages of their
development, including service as a Grade 1 class teacher, helping pupils strengthen
literacy, communication, and classroom confidence.
Broader Professional Experience
Before and alongside her work in education, Grace gained
valuable experience in business and administration. She worked for Ceylon
Business Appliance Ltd in Sri Lanka, developing strong organisational and
customer-facing skills in the fast-moving consumer goods sector. Earlier in her
career, she also worked in New Zealand in banking and insurance, serving in
administrative and teller roles. These experiences strengthened her
professionalism, communication, and attention to detail, all of which continue to
support her work in education.
Leadership and Personal Qualities
Grace has demonstrated leadership from an early stage
through roles such as prefect, house captain, monitor, president of the Tamil
Union, debater, orator, and choir member. She has also taken part in speech and
quiz competitions, receiving recognition for her achievements. These
experiences reflect her confidence, communication skills, and commitment to
contributing positively to the communities she serves.
Qualifications and Training
Grace has completed a range of professional training that
has supported both her teaching and administrative work. Her qualifications
include a Diploma in English for Teachers of English from the University of
Colombo, vocational training through Ladies’ College Vocational Institute,
business typing studies at Polytechnic Ltd, Colombo, and pre-school education
training focused on teaching children aged three to six. Together, these
qualifications reflect her commitment to professional development and her ability
to support young learners with care, structure, and confidence.
Education
Grace’s educational background includes Advanced Level study
at Methodist College, Colombo, with subjects including Economics, Geography,
and Tamil, as well as Ordinary Level study at Holy Family Convent, Colombo,
where she completed a broad academic foundation that included English,
Mathematics, and Science. This combination of humanities, language, and core
academic subjects has supported her development as a well-rounded educator.
Hobbies and Interests
Outside the classroom, Grace enjoys listening to music and
reading, interests that reflect her thoughtful and calm nature. These pastimes
help her maintain a balanced and positive outlook, which she brings into her
work with children and colleagues alike.
